finally : gisele for vogue paris april 2011

so this is emmanuelle alt's first cover as ed-in-chief,to be honest its a bit underwhelming but I do see the point of it very clearly.first, why its a bit of a disappointment, the sheer dress and grandma panties are a strict no-go for me,gisele has already been on so many covers just three months into the year and this is easily the worst, its like they're re-imagining her into something she's not, suppressing her natural attractiveness, put against a backdrop and color scheme more suitable for an architectural,or design magazine.BUT i do see how this is a big departure from what vogue paris has done before, which has always been fixated on models and put them front and centre, which is good and bad,it doesn't guarantee any longevity for the issue, and the mag is always trying so hard to be edgy and young, most time it did succeed,in terms of content i'm not sure if under alt's leadership it'll be different but its so refreshing to see her turn a new page, the titles, font and overall presentation of this cover indicates a very casual, warm simplicity, its a good introducer in a time when the entire industry is speculating, and i suspect the good girl, nice girl act won't be for long.
